Joey Selph has taken up the torch to beat a world record, something that no one
has ever done before. This world record is to benefit children with
cancer.
It took 2 years of hardcore training to be ready to
circumnavigate the globe in a 19 foot boat. That training consisted of
10 months on the Big Island, learning to hit very large waves in a very
small boat.
The second phase of training consisted of taking a canoe from
the Great Lakes straight down the Mississippi River. 6 boats and 4 motors
later, his training ended in the state of Mississippi. This training ended
with 2 staff infections, 2 heel fractures, 3 fractured vertebrae, 1
slipped disk, and 3 concussions.
He has done everything he knows to prove
that he is ready for such a difficult quest. Because those with cancer
must conquer things far more difficult than anything he might face trying
to beat this world record.
